Ramadan Reminders
A Guide to Allah

Each year, we strive to make the most of Ramadan—seeking hasanaat to weigh heavily on our scales, but above all, striving for the pleasure of Allah (SWT). InshAllah, the goal is to adopt even a single virtuous action, sustain it throughout the year, and gradually build upon it, ensuring that each Ramadan surpasses the last. This sacred month is not only a time for purification and seeking forgiveness but also an opportunity for deep self-reflection—examining our hearts and our past year to find ways to grow, do more good in this world, and cultivate softness and sincerity for the sake of Allah (SWT).

Gates of Jannah

The eight gates of Jannah will open to you based on the virtues you have exemplified and excelled in. If a gate is opened for you, the angels will graciously invite you to enter through it, and you will have the honor of choosing the gate through which you wish to enter Paradise.

Allah loves those who fast, for it is one of the most beloved acts of worship, demonstrating sabr—the trait He cherishes most in His creation. He has decreed that every bad deed is recorded as a single sin, while every good deed is multiplied between ten and seven hundred times. However, fasting is an exception, as Allah declares, “It is for Me, and I shall reward it”—signifying a reward beyond measure. InshAllah, may we continue the practice of fasting even one extra day a month after Ramadan.

Wudu (ablution)

Uthman ibn Affan reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever perfects his ablution as Allah Almighty has commanded him, the prescribed prayers will be an expiation for what occurs between them.”

The Prophet (PBUH) himself has encouraged us to make this supplication, promising that those who do so will be blessed with his intercession on the Day of Judgment.

Hands Holding Beads

Dhikr

Be like the Angels and constantly make dhikr throughout the day. These are said to be light on the tongue and heavy on the scales on Judgement Day.

  • Alhamdullileh

  • SubhanAllah al-'Adheemi was bihamdihi

Reward: Allah will placent one palm tree in Jannah for every time you recite this dhikr.

  • SubhanAllah x100 a day

Reward: Equal to 1,000 good deeds and the removal of 1,000 sins

  • La ilaha ilAllah

  • Astaghfurallah

  • La hawla wa la quwwata ilaa bilaah

  • Allahumma salli ala sayyidina Muhammad

Prophet Muhammad {ﷺ} responds to you by name every time you send prayers and salutation.

Before you sleep

As you prepare for sleep, your guardian angel gently urges you to end your night well. If you do, Allah will appoint an angel to remain by your side, making dua for you throughout the night. To attain this blessing, you can engage in any of the following:

  • Engage in Tasbeeh: While lying in bed, recite SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, and Allahu Akbar 33 times each. Shaytan despises this and will try to lull you to sleep before you complete it.

  • Perform Wudu: Sleeping in a state of purity brings immense barakah.

  • Pray Isha: This is the only prayer recommended to be delayed into the night, as it can count as Qiyam. Praying it just before sleep grants you the blessing of angelic supplication.

  • Recite Ayat al-Kursi: This powerful verse offers divine protection as you sleep.

By ending your night with remembrance and devotion, you invite the mercy of Allah and the prayers of His angels until dawn.

When you wake up

When you sleep the shaytan ties 3 knots on your head, these knots are a way for shaytan to control you. To break them and start your day well you need to:

  1. Remember Allah when you wake up, even as minimal as saying Alhamdullileh.

  2. Make wudu

  3. Pray

يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ

(Yā Muqallibal-qulūb, thabbit qalbī `alā dīnik)

“O Changer of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.”

Sadaqah

The Prophet Muhammad {ﷺ} said:

"Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire"

"Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity"

"Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another but that Allah increases his honor, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah but that Allah raises his status"

"The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity"

"When a human being dies, all one's deeds cease, except three: a Sadaqah Jariyah, [religious] knowledge [one leaves behind] from which others benefit, and a righteous child who prays for one"

"Allah, the Exalted, says, 'Spend, O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.'
